Sky and land meet

I began to look at landscapes differently where my observations of the land and the sky meet. Each landscape telling its own stories of the various life that dwells within it. I enjoyed looking at the blue, browns and green mixed in with the ochre yellow at this location. As I observe the colors I’m reminded of the primary colors of blue, red and yellow that create the secondary colors when blended together to make purple, orange and green. It’s so fascinating. What my goal has been was to learn as a whole unit of study. Not just earth pigments but what else is going on that I observe. What other things would I like to discover at the same time as my interest in the studies of earth pigments are piqued.

Colors alert me as I see connections to the habitat. It’s about building bridges to places that I explore what it has to offer me and what I am drawn to. It helps me to investigate how colors blend into the landscape.

My discoveries have not been just in pigments, but there have also been books by authors that have sought the same beauty that I seek. Where my interests are will usually be a book that follows.

My current book that I am reading is “The Lay of the Land” by Joe Greer. It’s about a photographer growing into his profession that takes him from the past to the present as he develops and narrates his story through photography letting the images communicate his journey.

The book is about forgiveness as he pursues his photography and is transformed as his story unfolds. I enjoyed his relaxed way of how he pursued a passion while working through the conflicts he was experiencing.

I’d been gifted a curiosity that would last a lifetime, remind me to keep learning, asking questions, taking risks.
